Nagpur: State BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule on Thursday said his party would remain in top position even if elections were conducted today. He was responding to the challenge thrown by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, who dared home minister Amit Shah to hold the civic and assembly polls in a month.
“All his statements are out of frustration, as his party fared poorly and was at number five in recent Gram Panchayat elections, where BJP emerged as numero uno by winning 294 Sarpanch seats. It was not expected from him to comment on a person of Shah’s stature and BJP will reply to him at right time.”
The MLC added that even during Maha Vikas Aghadi’s government, Thackeray continued to make personal remarks for two and half years. “Though he talks about ‘my family my responsibility’ only four are seen in Sena’s posters. He’s still not taken the lessons from the past and frustration is evident from his statements. He seemed to have accepted NCP’s ideology of indulging in revenge politics and suppressing democratic voices,” he added.
