TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Friday took a dig at the ruling BJP for its expenses on state elections and said, "Ram Rajya is clearly an expensive affair."

Taking to Twitter, she wrote that the BJP spent Rs 340 crores in five state elections in 2022. Of this, Rs 221 crore was spent on the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections alone, said the TMC leader.

"This is declared expenditure. Much more than this never even makes it to official hisaab," wrote Moitra.

Earlier in August, Mahua Moitra was targeted by BJP leaders over her ‘expensive’ Louis Vuitton bag.

In a similar tone, she had also fired back at the BJP over its expensive t-shirt jibe at Rahul Gandhi. Slamming the BJP, Moitra said that "Indians are busy paying the price for all the khaki shorts". In a series of tweets, Moitra said, "Forget bags and T-shirts - Indians are busy paying the price for all the khaki shorts."

The BJP had claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was sporting a t-shirt worth over Rs 40,000 from British luxury brand Burberry while on his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
