NOIDA: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly killing a 21-year-old youth who was in a relationship with his niece. The accused and another relative called the victim out and murdered him on Monday night in the Ecotech 3 area of Greater Noida.
Cops have recovered the body from the banks of the Hindon river.
The crime came to light on Wednesday when the victim Atul Kumar's family members lodged a missing person's complaint at the Ecotech-3 police station.
"In their complaint, the family claimed that Atul had been missing from home since Monday night and they suspect that someone had kidnapped him. A case under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC was immediately registered and investigation was initiated," said Saad Miya Khan additional DCP (central Noida). During investigation, police came to know that the accused, Anil Kumar, a resident of Kulesra in Greater Noida, had called Atul out.
"Anil he confessed to have killed Atul over the affair as the the two belonged to different castes," Khan said.
On Monday, he first called Atul out and both met near the Hindon river and had drinks together. "Then Anil and his brother Sanjay Kumar (the father of the woman) hit him on his head with a wooden stick and also then used a blade to slit his throat.," said SHO Vinod Kumar.Sanjay is on the run.
