Dibrugarh: Two alleged active cadres of the NSCN (K-YA), including a Myanmar national, were apprehended at Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changang district during a two-day counter-insurgency operation from September 18. It was led by a joint team of 19 Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police.
Those arrested have been identified by the security forces as self-styled (SS) private Meatu Meyak (38), a native of Lazu circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, and SS private Moring Kenlo (18), the Myanmar national. Both of them have been handed over to Changlang police station.
“Meyak was in touch with the NSCN (K-YA) chairman and other senior cadres for a long time. Recently, he underwent a two months’ special arms training in Myanmar from April to June. He was also involved in the encounter between security forces and the NSCN (K-YA) at Pangsau Pass on the Indo-Myanmar border on August 9,” a police official said.
