Thiruvananthapuram: A vet was attacked by a domesticated dog while administering anti-rabies vaccination in a house at Thirupuram near Neyyattinkara on Wednesday. Dr Bijesh S sustained deep bite wounds to his face and left hand. He rushed to Medical College Hospital where he received medical care and vaccine.
The dog belonging to a large breed was restrained and had a mask fitted to the face while the vaccine was being taken. The dog however freed himself from the grip of its owner and pounced on the doctor. The owner who tried to prevent the attack also got injured with a bite. The doctor managed to run away from the house compound and saved himself from further wounds.
