Man’s wife, her pal held for murder

Mandya: Within two days after Shashikumar from Malavalli was killed, the Mandya district police have succeeded in unravelling the murder mystery. The deceased's wife and her friend plotted to eliminate him, police said.
Shashikumar, a labourer, was found dead on September 18 at his house in Malavalli town. He was living with his wife, son and mother. Police have arrested his wife Nagamani and her friend Hemant for the murder.
According to police, Nagamani was working in a garment factory where she had met Hemanth and became friends with him.
Shashikumar opposed the friendship and stopped her from going to work. An angry Nagamani along with Hemanth plotted to eliminate Shashikumar. While Shashikumar was sleeping drunk on Sunday night, the duo tied his hands with a cloth and strangled him with a pillow, police said.
“After the case was registered, our police team investigated in various angles. As a result of the quick action, the accused were quickly arrested,” SP N Yatish said.
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother Thayamma raising suspicions about the death, Malavalli police had started a probe.
Girl missing case: Villagers decry police inaction
Angry villagers of B Bachahalli in KR Pet on Wednesday staged a protest, accusing police of laxity in probing the case of a missing minor girl, which has led to the death of a person.
According to the villagers, a 47-year-old man has committed suicide as police did not trace his missing daughter.
After a 17-year-old girl went missing on September 17, her family lodged a complaint. She is in love with a boy, police said, adding her father committed suicide by hanging as he was against the alliance.
