Coimbatore: Class IX girl attempts to end life

COIMBATORE: A Class IX girl tried to end her life by consuming chemical dye in a government school at Puliyampatti near Pollachi on Monday. The girl was admitted to the Pollachi government hospital and her condition is said to be stable.
A police officer said the 14-year-old girl had fights with another girl student. Teachers advised her against fighting with other students. “Meanwhile, parents of another girl told her not to talk with the 14-year-old girl. Other students have also been shunning her for a week now. Because of this, the girl was upset.
Around 11am, during the PT session, she poured chemical dye in water and drank it. The PT teacher came to know about this and took the girl to the hospital,” a police officer said. The Mahalingapuram police visited the hospital and questioned the girl.
