Most entrepreneurs today would resonate with the idea of hiring the right talent because bad teams can wreck a company. But it isn’t often very easy to find the right talent for startups and SMEs in India despite the large looming presence of platforms like Naukri and LinkedIn. Raj Das identified this gap in the recruitment space and established Hirect in 2020 to address this challenge.
Chat-based direct hiring
Within two years of establishment, Hirect India has become the go-to platform for startup founders and SMEs to recruit the right talent for the job at hand. Its chat-based direct hiring has been a success as the Hirect app has clocked over nine million downloads in Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Hirect enables CXOs, HRs and TLs to directly chat and hire candidates without any middlemen, which has made it an attractive portal for recruiters. More than 3.8 million verified job seekers are actively looking for jobs on Hirect’s platform today and there are roughly over 190,000 verified recruiters actively hiring on the platform.
When asked if he had any qualms and trepidations about going up against giants like LinkedIn and Naukri, Raj Das says that companies with employee sizes of 0-100 do not find other platforms alluring enough for recruitment. “Bigger platforms like Naukri and LinkedIn cater to bigger companies better and they are not very suitable for SMEs and startups,” he says.
Longstanding idea
Das says that he always had the idea of making the handshake happen between the smaller companies with the right talent. But he waited for the right opportunity until his family was financially stable to take on the entrepreneurial journey.
When he started Hirect in 2020, Das had the support of his former boss. But despite having achieved a lot in two years, Das says his biggest achievement is building a team of 500 people whom he can trust. “Building a team of 500 people in a matter of two years is not easy,” says Das.
For the future, Das aspires Hirect to reach a level where its platform can help half of the recruiters on it hire at least one talent per week.
