Lawyer arrested for trying to murder mother-daughter duo in Tirupur
COIMBATORE: The Tirupur city police on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old lawyer for attempting to murder a law student and her mother.
The arrested man has been identified as A Abdul Rahman of Tirupur. He had pursued a degree in law and was practising under a senior lawyer in Salem.
Abdul Rahman had an unreciprocated love with B Amirnisha, 20, a first year law student from Tirupur who is studying in a law college in Salem. He stalked the student.
On August 22, Amirnisha lodged a complaint with the Kondalampatti police in Salem against him. The police registered a case, arrested Abdul Rahman and remanded him in judicial custody. Later, he obtained conditional bail.
On Sunday, Amirnisha and her mother, B Jameela Banu, 42, who is a special public prosecutor of Tirupur mahila court, were in the latter’s office in Best Complex in Tirupur. Around 2.20 pm, Abdul Rahman barged into the office and assaulted Amirnisha and her mother with a sickle. The injured mother -daughter duo were admitted to private hospital in Coimbatore city.
The Tirupur North police booked Abdul Rahman under sections 294 (b), 307 and 447 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.
