CM orders probe, says ‘daughters pride of Punjab’

Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered a high-level probe into the Chandigarh University incident, following angry protests at the campus at Gharuan in Mohali.
Mohali DC Amit Talwar ordered a magisterial probe on Sunday evening and constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter after the Punjab CM’s statement.
The university sources also said that proceedings to rusticate the accused female student have been initiated.
Stating that daughters are the dignity and pride of Punjab, the chief minister, who is on a tour of Germany, said any such incident was highly condemnable.
