A 45-year-old Indian Army man was drugged and robbed of his ID card, smartphone, Rs 3,000 in cash and his luggage at Kalka railway station in Haryana on Saturday night.
The victim, identified as Sprine Harage, was posted in Shimla, said the police. He came to the railway station to board the Kalka-Howrah Mail to reach his native state of Jharkhand. Sources said two unknown people met the victim and introduced themselves as natives of Jharkhand as well.
The men, after winning the confidence of Harage, offered him a cold drink that was supposedly laced with sedatives, the police said.
“A police patrolling party found the victim lying unconscious on one of the platforms inside the station. The last train from the station, the Kalka-Howrah Mail, departed at 11.55 pm. The police patrol team first tried to wake up Harage. After much effort, he responded, woke up a little and in a semi-conscious state started searching for his wallet, mobile phone and luggage. We rushed him to the Kalka Civil Hospital. After getting first-aid at the hospital, the man recorded his statement in which he mentioned two unknown people,” Sub Inspector Chander Bhushan said.
Sources said that the two suspects have been caught on CCTV cameras installed at the railway station.
The government railway police have lodged a First Information Report (FIR) and started an investigation in the case.
The police said that the victim later called one of his colleagues and with his help boarded the next train to Jharkhand.
