KALYAN: The delayed Delisle road overbridge (ROB) in Lower Parel is a step closer to completion as Western Railway on Sunday launched the second girder. The east side will be handed over to BMC for the approach roads, and it is likely to be completed by early 2023.
Minister to Shinde: Correct your mistake, OK road plan Maharashtra's Public Works Department Minister Ravindra Chavan on Sunday advised Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to "wash away his past sins" and give a go-ahead to Dombivli roads projects.
Chavan, a BJP MLA from Dombivli, while directly mentioning Shinde, said that the Devendra Fadnavis government had sanctioned Rs 472 crore for road projects in Dombivli and even tenders were issued, but the plan was stalled after the BJP-led government's tenure ended. "The new government (MVA) stopped the already approved works. Who stopped those works, everyone knows. I have raised the question many times before him (Shinde) why the sanctioned works were stopped but I never got an answer," Chavan said. "Now, Shinde saheb (CM) is also minister of urban development and head of MMRDA. It is his responsibility to sanction the road projects so that his past sins are washed away."
Chavan did not stop at this. He also targeted MMRDA over Kalyan-Shil phata road works underway for the last 8 years. "Kalyan-Shil Phata Road work was started during the government of Devendra Fadnavis. It's been 8 years but the work has not been completed. Why didn't it happen? One the one hand, Nitin Gadkari ji (union transport minister) says that 28km of roads are being built in a day but what is happening here? Who is responsible for this? We need to think about it. It's my problem that I speak clearly. Now, someone will say that I am targeting my own people. But this is the feeling of the common public, someone has to express it."
Chavan, who is said to be close to Fadnavis, had in the past openly accused Shinde of blocking the approved works in Dombivli. The minister's statement, made during a school function, has heated up the political atmosphere in Dombivli.
