Sarpanch’s son kills self with father’s gun

Rajkot: A 23-year-old BCom student shot himself to death in his car using his father’s licenced revolver on the Khijadiya by-pass road near Jamnagar city on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jay Der, son of Pithabhai Der, sarpanch of Vinjalpar village in Khambhaliya taluka of Jamnagar. Panchkoshi A Division police sub-inspector J P Sodha said that reason for Jay’s suicide was not immediately known.
Sodha added that Jay was found dead inside his car on the Khijadiya bypass road, while the revolver found in the car belonged to Jay’s father.
On Sunday morning, a passerby saw the car with the nameplate ‘President Vinjalpar’ on its dashboard and and informed Jay’s father about the body.
Police said that Jay was living in Navagam in Jamnagar and was studying in the second year of BCom at Panchvati College.
