HYDERABAD: Tweets about a woman being asked to vacate an XL emergency seat on board a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight last week because she could not speak either Hindi or English sent social media into a frenzy on Sunday.
According to the posts by co-passenger Devasmita Chakraverty, the woman was moved to another seat because she only understood Telugu. The incident took place on flight 6E 7297 flight from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on September 16.
Attaching a photograph of the passenger with a hashtag #discrimination, Chakraverty wrote: “The woman in green originally sitting in 2A (XL seat, exit row) was forced to seat 3C because she understood only Telugu, not English/Hindi. The attendant said it’s a security issue. Flights from AP to Telangana have no instructions in Telugu.”
