GURUGRAM: A 38-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly thrashing policemen who tried to intervene when he picked up a fight with other customers at a pub in the city’s Sector 29.
A police team reached the pub after receiving a call from its manager who informed the cops that a man was creating ruckus by picking up fights with other customers. The accused, Lakshit Kalra also allegedly tore the uniform of one of the policemen on Sunday.
Police said Kalra has several criminal cases registered against him in the past. After assaulting the cop, according to a police officer, Kalra fled the spot. He was later arrested from his house in Sector 10A.
A case was registered against Kalra at Sector 29 police station under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant in the discharge of his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He was later produced in a court which sent him to judicial custody.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (east) Virender Vij said Kalra has previous criminal records and four cases are registered against him at different police stations in the city. “Kalra was arrested on Sunday and sent to judicial custody,” said Vij.
Kalra has a dowry case registered against him at Sector 51 women’s police station, a case under section 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC registered at Udyog Vihar police station and a case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Sector 29 police station.
He was also booked in a murder case and Arms Act.
