92kg of ganja seized, woman held

Coimbatore: A day after seizing 2.5kg of ganja from three peddlers, the Peelamedu police arrested a 19-year-old woman from Thottipalayam Pirivu near Chinniyampalayam on Saturday night and seized 91.5kg of ganja from her.
Inspector Ganeshkumar and sub-inspector Rajkumar had arrested B Gangaprasad, 28, of Madhubani district in Bihar, S Balakrishnan, 28, of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar at Neelambur and S Vijay, 20, of Neelambur, on Friday and seized 2.5kg of ganja, a car and two motorcycles from them.
Based on Gangaprasad’s statement, police raided a woman’s house at Thoppampatti Pirivu and seized 91.5kg of ganja on Saturday evening.
The woman was remanded in judicial custody and was lodged in the special prison for women.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that Gangaprasad procured the contraband from Andhra Pradesh and smuggled it in a car.
