SALEM: Former AIADMK MP Panneerselvam’s nephew Gokul Rajan was detained under Goondas Act on Saturday. He was arrested on Thursday for attacking a traffic police constable.
City police commissioner Najmul Hoda said traffic police constable Pandian, 43, had caught Gokul, 23, of Thandavan Nagar in Ponnammapet area in the city, using a mobile phone while riding a bike without wearing helmet. “When Pandian warned Gokul not to use mobile phone while riding bike, he attacked the police constable, who sustained injuries to his face.”
Based on Pandian’s complaint, the Salem town police arrested Gokul the same evening. A police source said an attempt to murder case was pending against Gokul with Ammapet police station.
