Mandya: A prematurely born baby boy has miraculously survived despite being thrown into a 10-foot deep defunct well in Pandavapura. The baby is recuperating at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences and is said to be out of danger.
Residents of Chandra village in Pandavapura taluk rescued the day-old baby from the well on Friday after hearing it crying. Immediately, the infant was shifted to MIMS after giving first aid at a local centre. Surprisingly, the baby had no physical injuries except a wound on its back.
District minister K Gopalaiah visited MIMS on Saturday and enquired about the health of the baby. He also directed the authorities to provide the best care. “The child has minor injuries. Since the baby was born prematurely, its weight was only 1.5kg. It is being treated in the NICU,” said DHO Dr Dhananjaya. TNN
