10 phones, narcotics found in jail
Ludhiana: Hours after the visit of jail minister Harjot Singh Bains at Ludhiana Central Jail on Thursday, jail staffers seized 10 mobile phones and narcotics from the jail. Division number 7 police registered three separate cases against the inmates.
In the first case, assistant superintendent Swarn Singh said that during special checking on Thursday, they recovered 50gm intoxicant from inmate Ashok Batra of Chhawni Mohalla, who is lodged in barrack number 1. In the second case, jail staffers seized three mobile phones from two inmates, Mandeep Singh of Ahmadgarh and Puneet of Mubarak Colony, who are also lodged in Barrack number 1 of Central Jail. In the third case, another assistant superintendent , Kashmir Lal said that jail staff nabbed inmate Surjit Ram Teeta of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and seized a mobile phone from him.
