Jaipur: NSUI resorts to ‘Gandhigiri’ for protesting against unemployment

JAIPUR: It is ‘Gandhigiri’ of a new kind being enacted on the streets of Jaipur. On Saturday, a group of young students was spotted polishing boots of passers-bye on Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg. It was no social work being performed by these students.
The students had taken to this unique way to show protest against “growing unemployment” in the country on the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“After Narendra Modi became the PM, unemployment rate has increased in India. Educated youths are not getting jobs. So we decided to celebrate the PM’s birthday as Unemployment Day and organised a few demonstrations that reflect the condition of today’s educated youths,” said Ramesh Bhati, national spokesperson of Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). Modi turned 72 on Saturday.
A few members of NUSI were also spotted selling tea in front of the main gate of Rajasthan University. Around 100 members of NUSI reached there around 12:30pm and demonstrated their skills at selling tea for about an hour. This protest demonstration seemed entertaining to both students of the university and passers-by as many of them stood and watched the entire show.
“We have also organised such programmes in several other districts across the state,” said Bhati.
