Will increase outlay for Kalyana K’taka to ₹5k cr next year: CM
Kalaburagi: In the 2021-22 state budget, a sum of Rs 3,000 crore was earmarked towards the development of Kalyana Karnataka, while Rs 5,000 crore will be allocated towards ensuring the progress of the historically backward region next year, assured chief minister Basavaraj Bommai in Kalaburagi on Saturday. Pointing to the amendment of Article 371, under which Kalyana Karnataka has been assigned a special category owing to its backward condition, the CM said, “Our government released Rs 3,000 crore towards the development of the region. Next year, this sum will be increased to Rs 5,000 crore.”
Bommai, who unfurled the tricolour in Kalaburagi, also announced that the Bidar-Ballari Road would be upgraded to a four-lane express highway, and measures taken to build airports in Raichur, and Ballari districts. “The completion of the Bidar-Ballari express highway will go a long way in improving connectivity across Kalyana Karnataka. Steps have been initiated to build airports in Raichur and Ballari. With the central government’s assistance, we will construct a ring road that will connect Yadgur, Raichur, and Kalaburagi districts,” the CM said.
He added that the government would continue to encourage industrial development in Kalyana Karnataka. “The Centre has decided to establish a textile park in Kalaburagi, while the state government has resolved to establish similar units in Raichur and Vijayapura districts. These industrial clusters will generate employment for 25,000 people. In Ballari, we want to set up a ‘jeans park’, and a pharmaceutical cluster in Yadgir. Also, work has already started on the construction of industries of the toy cluster in Koppal district,” Bommai added.
The CM added that, with the Centre’s assistance, the Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology would be established in Bidar at an estimated cost of Rs 90 crore. “The government will set up 2,500 anganwadis, and add 2,100 new classrooms to the schools,” Bommai added.
Attending another event in Kalaburagi, the CM said that, as part of its vision to upgrade healthcare infrastructure in Kalyana Karnataka, 68 primary health centres would be set up, while 14 existing PHCs would be upgraded to community health centres.
