MC organises Indian Swachhta League
Ludhiana: The municipal corporation (MC) on Saturday organized drawing competition, exhibition and street play to observe Indian Swachhta League here at Nehru Rose Garden. School students took part in drawing competition while some NGOs came out with their initiatives to stop use of plastic carry bags, stop wastage of water and plantation.
The MC has been preparing for this event since September 11 and they had visited many schools and colleges to invite the participants. Special videos were uploaded on social media to spread awareness. As many as 1,800 cities participated and in the numbers of registrations, Ludhiana came at 11th position all over the country. In the morning, a cycle rally was also carried out from Sidhwan Canal bridge to Rose Garden. Various pedaller clubs participated in the rally. NCC cadets also participated and carried out a sanitation drive from Rose Garden to Fountain chowk, while students made graffiti at the walls of SCD government college opposite Rose Garden.
As many as 500 students took part in the drawing competition. Some paintings of art and craft students were also displayed in the garden and people were spotted taking selfies with those paintings. The NGOs displayed various things made after recycling of waste material. Disabled children from Eknoor foundation also presented a dance performance. The MC distributed plants to the winners.
