BHUBANESWAR: A fresh low pressure area, triggered by the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, could bring more rain across the state on Tuesday and may last for the next four-five days, the IMD said on Friday.
H R Biswas, the regional head of the IMD centre, said rainfall activity due to the system would cover most places in the state. “Many south Odisha districts have chances of experiencing heavy rainfall,” Biswas said. The IMD’s rainfall report recorded on Friday morning showed Balasore receiving the highest 31.2 mm rainfall with Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district next with 26 mm rainfall.
Biswas said the cumulative monsoon rainfall since June stands at 3% more compared to normal, amid weak monsoon trend. He said five districts in the state — Koraput, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Dhenkanal and Boudh — have received excess rainfall so far.
