Puttur: Tension prevailed outside Kabaka Puttur railway station on Friday, after Hindu organisation members gathered on learning that a few young Hindu women and Muslim youths were travelling together in a train.
Members of Hindu Jagarana Vedike and Bajrang Dal reached the railway station, after receiving information that youths from different communities were travelling together. Police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd. They also questioned the youths and let them go. No case has been registered, police said.
In another incident, members of Hindu Jagarana Vedike and Bajrang Dal handed over a Muslim youth, who was allegedly staying with a Hindu woman, along with her parents, in a lodge in Puttur.
Hindu organisation members gathered at the Puttur town police station, and alleged that the Muslim youth was engaged in “love jihad,” and demanded that action be taken against him. Hindu activists told the media that the youth had brought the woman from Kundapur to Puttur, by offering a job several days ago. Sources said the youth is being questioned by the police.
