Berhampur: The Gajapati district administration on Friday launched the Buniyadi Shikshya Abhiyan — a programme to impart supplementary lessons to the primary school students — in support of Piramal Foundation, the knowledge partner of Niti Aayog. Gajapati has been identified as an inspirational district by Niti Aayog in the education sector.
Around 500 volunteers of the district will impart extra classes beyond the school hours to impart basic teaching under the Abhiyan. The Abhiyan will continue for 100 days in 160 selected primary schools across the district.
Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu launched the initiative in the presence of Gajapati collector Lingaraj Panda, zilla parishad chairman G Tirupati Rao, district education officer PK Nayak and several others at Paralakhemundi. “In the later stage, it will be extended to other schools, after assessing the success of the initial stage,” the collector said.TNN
