THANE: The police have externed more than 163 trouble-makers or criminals since January, as part of a drill to keep at bay anti-social elements from city limits.
The police said that this is one of the ongoing preventive exercises carried out by the law-enforcement agency throughout the year to keep a check on the criminals who can indulge in some or the other crime or offence.
Last year, total 173 people were externed by the city police, informed Ashok Morale, additional commissioner of police (crime).
“We are taking preventive measures to combat any kind of serious offence.” Morale added.
The drive to extern such offenders is based on their previous records who have criminal antecedents.
