Chinese national detained for staying in India after visa expiry

NOIDA: The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) along with the Noida police detained a Chinese national for allegedly staying in India after his visa expired around 2 years back.
According to officials, they have been carrying out continuous drives against foreigners who have been living illegally in Gautam Budh Nagar.
"The man identified as 34-year-old Zhang Liang was held from his residence in Sector 112," said a senior LIU officer.
Police said Liang had come to India in 2019 on a business visa. He was running his own businesses in India but even after his visa expired in December 2020, he did not return to his country, violating the visa rules. "He had applied for a visa extension in 2021, which was rejected. He has been sent to the deportation centre in Delhi and concerned agencies have been informed of the same," an officer said.
