Ambala police bust gang of bike lifters, 3 held
The Ambala police have busted a gang of bike lifters by arresting three of its members.
AMBALA: The Ambala police have busted a gang of bike lifters by arresting three of its members.
The police have also recovered 16 stolen motor bikes from there possession.
The arrested men have been identified as Ravi Kumar, a mechanic-turned bike thief for fulfilling his drug needs, Arun and Atul, superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said.
All three accused were produced in the court on Thursday, which sent them to judicial custody.
The SP said that the police first arrested Ravi, and took him on two-day remand from the court on September 13.
"During the interrogation, Ravi disclosed that he worked as motorcycle mechanic. He developed addiction for heroin. Ravi was not able to purchase the expensive drug. So, he got involved in vehicle lifting," the SP said.
The SP said the accused stole bikes and sold them only for Rs 4,000 to 5,000 to fulfill his need of heroin.
"Ravi sold stolen bikes to Atul and Arun, who painted the vehicles with different colours and were trying to sell them off," the officer said.
The SP said Atul and Arun were arrested on September 14, and 10 stolen bikes were recovered from their possession. He said six bikes were recovered from the possession of Ravi.
