PUNE: PMPML will start a 12km free e-bus service from Thursday for visitors to Kas Plateau near Satara from the private vehicles' parking lot.
"A total of five 12-metre-long e-buses have been put into service. The tourism department has come up with a parking spot around 12km from the plateau area. Visitors with private vehicles will have to park them in the parking spot, after which the e-buses will transport them to the destination. The last-minute arrangements are being made," said Dattatraya Zende, the traffic manager of PMPML (Pune Mahanagar PArivahan Mahamandal Limited).
The official added that one charging point was being set up in Satara for the e-buses.
"The buses would proceed to the parking lot after they are charged in Satara. A charger can charge two buses at a time. Once charged fully, buses can easily ply for the entire day. The transport given to visitors to and from the plateau would be free. The service is an initiative of the state tourism department and we shall get paid by them," Zende said.
