BHUBANESWAR: A day-before it’s scheduled show at Kuakhai River bank at the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the Suryakiran aerobatics team of Indian Air Force (IAF) showed a glimpse of their skills during a practice session in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The nine red and white Hawk aircrafts buzzed the city’s skyline and left the city residents awe-struck during a full-dressed practice session at the Balijatra ground.
The show created an excitement and eagerness among the city dwellers for the show scheduled on Friday.
The nine-Hawk Suryakiran aerobatic aircrafts will dazzle the city sky at 10am on Friday over the Kuakhai river in Jaripatna in Balijatra Ground, and will show various aerobatic maneuvers and formations flying inverted, diving and climbing in an aerial ballet.
The show will continue for about 30-45 minutes.
Police made an elaborate arrangement for a crowd of around 30,000-50,000 expected to throng the riverbank on Friday to witness the show. As many as 15 platoon police force will be deployed for crowd management and discipline during the show.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik and governor Ganeshi Lal will witness the show apart from 1000 VIPs. Air Marshal DK Patnaik, Chief of Eastern Air Command, will also attend the air shows. He has been playing a key role in organizing both the air shows in the state. The aerobatic team will also perform over Raj Bhawan in Puri on Sunday.
“The movements of the aircrafts are hair-raising and awe-inspiring. I will come again for the main show,” said Swasti Swagatika Swain, a class XII student who came from CDA, Cuttack to watch the rehearsal with her parents.
