VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has razed three religious structures in the city in the past two days. It claimed that these were encroachments or illegally constructed.
On Wednesday early morning, a team of the civic body razed a structure near the compound wall of M S University's main campus in Sayajigunj area.
The civic body later claimed that this was an encroachment.
It also razed a structure that had come up in Sahakarnagar in Tandalja area on Wednesday.
An official said that the structure had come up on the land that was vacated for Sahakarnagar project that is coming up on a public-private partnership mode. Houses for the urban poor, including those who used to stay on dwellings at the site, are also planned there.
The remaining portion of the land will be used by the developer.
On Tuesday night, a shade that had been constructed in the housing scheme for the urban poor in Soma Talav area was razed.
