Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.22% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Maruti Suzuki(up 3.85 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 2.45 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 2.3 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 2.11 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 1.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Balkrishna Industries(down 0.73 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.58 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.15 per cent), MRF(down 0.12 per cent) and Escorts Kubota(down 0.07 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 1.22 per cent at 13383.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 44.15 points at 17959.6, while the BSE Sensex was down 100.1 points at 60246.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of , JP Power, , Vedanta and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of , , TRF Ltd, and Ceat hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , Piramal Ent., and S & S Power Switch hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
