Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi: Hindu plaintiffs will file caveat in HC

Varanasi: Before Anjuman Intezamia Masajid (AIM), the Gyanvapi mosque management committee, challenges the Varanasi district judge’s Monday order in the Gyanvapi Mosque-Shringar Gauri case, lawyers of the women plaintiffs are preparing to file a caveat in the Allahabad high court.
Veteran lawyer Harishankar Jain, who is contesting the case on behalf of four women plaintiffs seeking the right to worship Shringar Gauri and other deities in Gyanvapi mosque compound, told TOI: “Yes, I am going to file a caveat in the high court in the next couple of days to ensure that our argument is heard before the court passes any injunction against the order of the lower court in the matter.”
After the Varanasi district judge rejected the AIM plea questioning the maintainability of the Hindu side's suit, its lawyer Merajuddin Siddaqui had said that a revision petition would be filed in the Allahabad high court as all their arguments to prove applicability of Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, the Waqf Act 1995, and the UP Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Act, 1983 had been overlooked.
Anjuman Intezamia Masajid joint secretary SM Yasin said that the revision petition would be filed after going through the Monday’s order in detail.
