NOIDA: A 40-year-old construction contractor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly setting on fire a Mercedes car of a property builder, which was parked outside his house in Sadarpur village of Noida in UP, officials said.
Investigation revealed that the accused was unhappy as the complainant had not cleared his pending payment of Rs 2.68 lakh from the past couple of years.
According to the police, the incident that took place on Monday was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

The video of the incident went viral on Tuesday evening.
In the video, a man can be seen coming on a two-wheeler and parking it in front of a white Mercedes on the street.
He then goes on to pour an inflammable liquid, presumably petrol, over the car and set it on fire, before fleeing the spot.
"A resident of Sadarpur village, identified as Ayush Chauhan, submitted a complaint at the Sector 39 police station on Tuesday evening stating that his Mercedes Benz car was set on fire outside his house. The accused was identified as Ranveer, a native of Bihar and resident of Roja Yakubpur village. He was arrested on Wednesday. He was upset for the non-payment of dues of over Rs 2 lakh," deputy commissioner of police (Noida) Harish Chander said.
The complainant had hired Ranveer to install tiles at houses.
They had been working together since 2019.
The DCP further mentioned that over the past couple of months, Ranveer's payment was allegedly due over Chauhan, worth Rs 2,68,000.
Over this issue, the both had also had several heated arguments.
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was upset with Chauhan over the payment issue. He took revenge by carrying out the act."
The accused has been arrested under section 435 (Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage) of the Indian Penal Code.
"The suspect was arrested from Sadarpur village on Wednesday. He will be produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. The suspect had not given any complaint regarding non-payment of dues to the police. The complainant has refuted his claims and told police that full payment was made to Ranveer and no dues were pending," the DCP mentioned.
