Pedalling to make city garbage free

Ludhiana: For creating awareness among the masses for adopting measures to make city garbage free, the civic authorities will organise one cyclothon on Saturday along with a few other public involvement activities under ‘Indian Swachhta League’ (ISL).These events are to take place at India level and city has been tagged as Ludhiana Lions.
Through such events, the officials will try to convince the residents in keeping the city clean and managing the waste being generated from their households at their level by home composting or at least keeping the waste in segregated form.
The residents will be given a message to fight against garbage issue as without public support this race cannot be won. The officials also shared that one NGO will bring plastic waste material collected from city and with plastic waste things will be created on the spot.
While giving details, one of the civic officials claimed that they would be organising one cyclothon where residents will peddle from Sidhwan Canal bridge to Rose Garden and then for school students and other kids too one drawing competition has been organised at Rose Garden. He further shared that they will launch one special cleanliness drive from Rose Garden till Fountain Chowk.
On Tuesday, a special meeting was convened with school principals and NGO members for their support . The idea is to bring more people for participation as this event will be monitored at India level.
