PATNA: The state government has increased the scholarship (stipend) amount of junior doctors from Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 per month. The increase covers the intern students in government medical colleges, Patna Dental Medical College and Ayurvedic, Yunani and Homoeopathic Medical College.
The scholarship amount of the students doing internship in physiotherapy and occupational therapy has also been increased from Rs11,000 to Rs15,000 per month.
The state cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposals and also sanctioned the release of Rs17,953.31 crore for expenditure on various schemes and creating new posts in various departments, mostly during the current fiscal, , additional chief secretary of the cabinet secretariat department, S Siddharth, said.
The cabinet cleared the proposals for admission of 100 students to MBBS courses at Purnia Medical College and the creation of 135 posts of teaching and non-teaching staff there, along with 288 other posts in this medical college hospital for gaining recognition by the National Medical Commission.
The cabinet also sanctioned the creation of 21 posts at
Bihar College of Physiotherapy and occupational therapy, 43 posts in Viklang Bhavan Hospital and three other posts at the artificial limb-making centre - all located in the Kankarbagh locality of Patna.
That apart, the cabinet cleared decks for the creation of 370 teaching and 89 non-teaching posts at Patliputra University (Patna), Munger University (Munger), Purnia University (Purnia) and Patna University (Patna).
Cabinet nod to 54 new posts of additional dist and sessions judgeSimilarly, the sanction was also given for the creation of six each of teaching and non-teaching posts for the postgraduate course at Ancient Indian History and Asian Studies Centre under Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara.
Besides, the cabinet okayed the creation of 153 posts under Bihar Fire Services and 54 posts of additional district and sessions judge for various courts related to rape and POCSO.
While a sum of Rs15,326.68 crore will be spent by the rural development department on the implementation of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) from 2022-23 to 2025-26 financial years, another chunk of Rs1,340.26 crore will be utilized on the strengthening and renovation of roads, as well as land acquisition and shifting of utilities, during 2022-23 in the 12 districts affected by Left-wing extremist activities.
The Rs1,340.26 crore includes the expenditure worth Rs242.68 crore to be incurred on the strengthening and renovation of 28 roads of 163.98km length and construction of 13 bridges in 2022-23 in Aurangabad, Gaya, Jamui and Lakhisarai districts. Similarly, the other chunk of Rs1,097.58 crore would be spent in the current fiscal on the construction of 11 roads of 120.18km length and one RCC bridge, as well as acquisition of land and shifting of utilities in eight other districts.
The cabinet also cleared the advance withdrawal of Rs114.95 crore from the contingency fund to meet the cost of diesel subsidy to farmers on account of the drought-like conditions arising from irregular monsoon and scanty rainfall. Further, the the revised sum of Rs980 crore, in place of the earlier Rs1,309 crore, was approved for implementation of the Centre's Smart City project in Bhagalpur.
Besides, the cabinet also sanctioned Rs72.50 crore for the installation of the availability-based tariff (ABT) meters by Bihar State Power Transmission Corporation in the remaining feeders outside the covered grid substation.
For the improvement of the supply chain management through overall computerization by the food and consumer production department, the cabinet sanctioned Rs60.95 crore to be utilized over the next three years. Also, Rs57.07 crore was sanctioned for the implementation of the CM Pond Fishery Development Scheme in 2022-23.
