GHAZIABAD: A 70-year-old woman, out for morning walk, was allegedly attacked and robbed of her gold earrings by two bike-borne assailants in Pratap Vihar on last Friday. Despite approaching the police on the same day, the FIR was finally registered on Sunday night.
Police said the woman -Santosh Devi -is the mother of BJP MLA Pradeep Chaudhary of Bulandshahr's Sadar area. She resides at Pratap Vihar with her younger son Jeetpal Chaudhary.
Jeetpal told police that on September 9 his mother had gone out for morning walk at 5 am. "When she reached near Jal Nigam, two men on a bike stopped her after brandishing a pistol at her. They asked her to give them her earrings or they would shoot at her. First, they tried to open her earrings, but as they failed, they cut her earlobes with a knife and took the earrings," he said.
"My mother found a police patrolling van, 100 metres away from the crime spot. However, rather than helping her or chasing the criminals, the cops asked her to stop coming out for morning walks," Jeetpal added. He filed a complaint at Vijay Nagar police station on Friday.
Nipurn Aggarwal, SP-City-1 said an FIR has been registered under Section of 392 (robbery) of the IPC.
