Teacher elopes with minor student

Vadodara: An offence was registered against a school teacher, a father of two daughters, from Shehra taluka in Panchmahal district after he eloped with a 16-year-old girl student from his school. The teacher-student duo remained untraced till Tuesday evening.
Sources said that the married teacher had been in an affair with the minor student for quite some time. This had also come to the notice of the minor’s mother who had reprimanded her. Despite this, the relationship continued and the girl eloped with the teacher sometime on Sunday night.
The girl’s mother found her missing early on Monday morning and the family, suspecting that the she may have runaway with the teacher, went to his residence in Godhra on Monday. The teacher was not present at his residence and had also not attended duties in the school in Shehra taluka too.
The girl’s family also inquired with relatives and others but was not able to locate her and eventually, approached the Shehra police which registered an offence against the teacher.
The teacher has been booked under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and also the Atrocities Act.
