Has anyone ever imagined, why we fart so much? Well, it is because when we consume too many gas-causing foods, they create flatulence and flatus in our body, which is commonly known as farting. Believe it or not, as per a study published in the journal Gastrointestinal Society, a person generates 0.6-1.8 litres of gas per day on average, which is caused by the colonic bacteria as part of the digestion process. As per the same study, a healthy individual passes this intestinal gas 12-25 times per day. This gas is released through two forms - either a fart or burp, and most people are embarrassed about passing gas. (Images courtesy: Canva)
