MUMBAI: Metro carshed work in Aarey on Tuesday damaged the main water pipeline that supplies water to 17,000 buffaloes in local cowsheds.
C K Singh, chairman of the Bombay Milk Producers Association said, "Since Tuesday there is no water supply to sheds that house 17,000 buffaloes. The dairy farmers are so distressed."
Aarey officials approached Metro engineers for repair.
MMRCL said that the major length of pipeline was restored Wednesday evening.
"One particular component for connection with the old pipeline has now reached the site. The final connection work is under way. Water supply will be restored Thursday morning after setting of concrete around pipe joints," the Metro officers said.
