Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will be one of the first companies to use this edge platform

At Think 2022, Airtel and IBM announced a collaboration that will see them a deploy edge computing platform in India. The platform will benefit large enterprises across multiple industries including manufacturing and automotive.
The edge computing platform will include 120 network data centres across 20 cities in the country. The presence of this platform will help deliver new value for enterprises at the edge.
This is a significant announcement for enterprises in the country as India gears up to tap into the power of 5G, which is expected to be rolled out soon.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will be one of the first companies to use this edge platform to increase accuracy and efficiency for quality inspections on the factory floor. Deployment of the technology will help the automaker boost quality control and ensure security of data at edge.
In a statement, Rajesh Uppal, Senior Executive Director, HR and IT, Maruti Suzuki said, “We are excited to work with Airtel Business and IBM to set an even higher benchmark and explore the vast possibilities of deploying AI and analytics at the edge to augment the expertise of our workforce”.
