Govt advisory on lumpy skin disease

Bhubaneswar: The fisheries and animal resources development department on Monday issued an advisory on prevention and control of lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle.
Fisheries department principal secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee, in a letter to chief district veterinary officers of 14 bordering districts, advised them to follow strategies and advisories to prevent this disease. He said LSD was first reported in 2019 in Odisha and since then there has been no report.
In view of current outbreak of LSD in more than 20 states, particularly northern India, the department has asked the veterinary officers to follow strategies for prevention of occurrence of the disease in Odisha. TNN
