MADIKERI: More than 22 bells were stolen from Makki Sasthavu temple near Napoklu. The incident took place on Sunday night.
Thieves have stolen the bells made of brass that were hung in the temple premises. Thieves also stole other copper bells weighing more than 15kg.
Local Chinnappa, who visits the temple during early morning hours to clean the premises, noticed the bells missing on Monday. He immediately informed Kuttanjettira Shyam Chinnappa, the president of the temple committee. The temple committee discovered that the four CCTV cameras installed around the temple were destroyed before the bells were stolen.
The committee has lodged a complaint at the Napoklu police station. Napoklu S I K Sadashiva and other staff visited the spot.
