CHENNAI: A man who was set to get married on Monday passed away on Sunday night from wounds he received in a car accident in Thiruporur. The victim, G Raj, was 42 and lived in Thiruporur's Anna Nagar. Raj, an electrician by profession, was scheduled to marry a woman from Cuddalore at a marriage hall in Thiruporur on Monday.
The fiveday pre-wedding ritual was being prepared for by the family. After completing a few marriage-related chores at home on Friday, according to the police, he proceeded to see his friends to invite them to the wedding. He was driving his bike to home after inviting his coworkers at the college where he had worked.
Raj suffered serious head injuries when a bike travelling in the opposite direction struck him head-on as he got closer to his house. Raj and the other biker were both ejected from their bikes and came to rest on their heads. The other motorcyclist, who had just minor wounds, was taken to a hospital.
The identity of the other rider is not yet known, police said. According to reports, the other biker did not see him coming and they collided head-on. Police reported that Raj was wearing a helmet. The villagers rushed him to a nearby private hospital after learning about the disaster.
He was sent to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital due to his serious condition. At 11 pm on Sunday, he was deemed brain dead. His parents donated his organs as per his wish.
