4 Arunachal girls rescued in Guwahati

Guwahati: Four minor girls belonging to Arunachal Pradesh were on September 9 rescued in Guwahati by Arunachal Police along with the local cops, foiling a suspected human trafficking bid, police said on Monday.
The minors were allegedly abducted from Manabhum area in Arunachal’s Changlang district on September 8. An FIR was lodged with Diyun police station in the district on the same day.
Prasanta Sagar Changmai, DIG (administration), said, “The Arunachal Police was already tracing the minors. They sought our help in rescuing the girls. We got information about the minors being kept in a guest house located in the Rukminigaon area in the city. We rescued them and handed them over to the Arunachal Police on Friday.”
Mihin Gambo, SP (Changlang), said, “ The officer-in-charge of Diyun police station launched an investigation immediately after an FIR was lodged. A woman, identified as Nivedita Chanda, emerged as the prime suspect. She was traced to Guwahati. Our intelligence network confirmed the location of the accused woman along with the missing girls at Ornet Naga Guest House in Guwahati.” He appreciated the prompt response of the Assam Police leading to the rescuing of the minor girls within 24 hours of the FIR being lodged.
