BENGALURU: A 23-year-old autorickshaw driver was stabbed to death by another driver near Peenya on Sunday night over a petty issue. Police managed to arrest the suspect within a few hours.
The deceased is Siddique, a resident of RT Nagar, and the suspect is Ajay, 23, of Peenya Dasarahalli.
The incident took place around 11.30pm when both drivers had parked their vehicles at the auto stand near Jalahalli Cross. Ajay was having tea when Siddique approached him and asked for water, saying: "Eno maga, neeru idre kodo" (Hey maga, give me some water). 'Maga' literally means son but colloquially used to mean 'dude'. Ajay got angry and it led to a heated argument between the duo.
He allegedly whipped out a knife and stabbed Siddique thrice in his stomach and chest. Passersby rushed Siddique to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Ajay was arrested by Monday morning.
