AIIMS Bhubaneswar to install high-end machine for cancer treatment

BHUBANESWAR: The department of radiation oncology has been providing conformal radiation treatment to cancer patients. It will install another Dual Energy Linear Accelerator having cutting edge contemporary technology for cancer treatment.
After addition of the second machine, the patient waiting time for diagnosis and treatment will be shorter and the quality of treatment will be higher. The work is expected to be completed by Jan 2023 and the machine will be clinical after getting approval from Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Mumbai.
The machine will be fitted with attachments for performing all kinds of modern age radiotherapy like SBRT, SRS, SRT, IMRT, IGRT and all kinds of adaptive radiotherapy.
On Monday, the machine installation process was started at the bunker site by AIIMS Bhubaneswar executive director Ashutosh Biswas in the presence of Dillip Kumar Parida, head of the department, Radiation Oncology and other officials and faculty members.
