Gurgaon: More than 40 families of C block in Greenwood City are without power since Thursday night as they are struggling to get their damaged cables replaced for the last four days. They pointed out that there was a major fault in cables around 10pm on September 8.
Despite repeated complaints to the DHBVN, the officials of discom are reluctant to replace the damaged cable citing lack of cable in the inventory. The residents claimed they have been forced to spend around Rs 7.5 lakh on cables and Rs 5 lakh on electric panels.
Tarun Bajaj, a resident of C block, who shifted in February this year, said he had deposited Rs 2.60 lakh as development charges at the time of getting a new electricity connection. “The developer has failed to build the requisite electricity infrastructure in the colony. The DHBVN decided that residents have to pay the development charges. But despite paying a hefty amount, the discom is still not providing any services. We feel helpless as it has put a financial burden of around Rs 60,000 on us,” he added. Residents said around three months ago, the cable and electricity panel got burnt. “Now, once again we are facing the same situation. Spending such a huge amount at such short intervals is not an easy task,” said Vineeta Khosla, RWA president of B and C blocks.
DHBVN claimed they are unaware of the power fault in the colony. “It has been decided that the development charges will be invested for development of electricity infrastructure. I am not aware of any recent fault in the said colony, however, I will look into it,” said P K Chauhan, the superintending engineer.
