MUZAFFARNAGAR: A man allegedly poisoned his 20-year-old girlfriend in his house as she was pressurizing him for marriage for the last few months and threw her body in a canal outside Baseda village in Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday night.
According to cops, the girl had an affair with 22-year-old Abhishek Kumar and both belonged to Baseda village. The girl disappeared from her house on Sunday evening.
Police said her kin lodged a complaint with police, alleging that Abhishek kidnapped the girl. Following the complaint, a case was registered under section 363 (kidnapping) against Abhishek and one more person. Abhishek was arrested. When questioned, he revealed that the girl reached his house on Sunday night.
The duo planned to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substance. But the girl consumed the poison first and died. Later, the man with the help of his cousin packed her body in a bag and threw it in a canal.
Police said that the victim's kin alleged that Abhishek poisoned her to death because she was pressurizing him for marriage. Superintendent of police (City), Muzaffarnagar, Arpit Vijaivargiya said, "The main accused has been arrested and two teams have been deployed to recover the body." After recovery of the body, the post-mortem will reveal the exact cause of death, he said. Efforts on to recover the body.
