BEGUSARAI: Union minister Giriraj Singh on Monday reiterated his demand of survey of the Bihar madrassas on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. He also stressed the need for uniform civil code (UCC) in the country.
The Lok Sabha member from Begusarai also mocked chief minister Nitish Kumar's efforts of uniting non-BJP parties and claimed that the opposition has not accepted him as their PM candidate. "He (Nitish) met several opposition leaders after deserting BJP, but failed to find a single one ready to accept him as the PM candidate," Giriraj told reporters at Patna.
He also taunted Nitish and said Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made him "do sit-ups" during their joint press conference at Patna recently.
Reacting to Giriraj's comment, JD(U) parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha said it reflects "the frustration and anger prevailing among the BJP leaders". "The BJP leaders realise that the land beneath their feet is drifting when they visit their respective constituencies," he said.
